Each year Remodeling Magazine puts out their annual Home Remodeling Cost Verses Value report which looks at the cost of home improvement projects, the added home value, and percentage of costs recouped. Based on surveys of 35 projects they calculate which project have the highest cost recouped relative to the region and across the nation. The projects in this years report range from a high of 92.2% to a low of 43.6% of costs recaptured.

The attic bedroom project includes adding a 15×15 food bedroom, 5×7 bath with a shower, window, insulation etc.
This basement remodeling project includes creating a 20×30 foot space with a wet bar, 5×8 foot full bath, putting up walls, electrical, plumbing, insulation and paint.

This bathroom addition project includes adding a 6×8 foot bathroom with a tub/shower surrounded by tile, sink, fixtures, toilet, electrical, plumbing, ceramic floor, paint and storage.
This bathroom remodeling project includes updating a 5×7 foot bathroom with a new tub, vanity with a sink, toilet, flooring, and wallpaper.
Add a Deck

These two deck addition projects include building a 16×20 foot deck including joists anchored to concrete pillars, deck boards, railing, stairs and a combination bench/planter.
Family Room Addition

This addition project includes adding a 16×25 foot room including drywall, insulation, hardwood floors, windows, doors, lighting, sky lights and tie into HVAC system.
This kitchen renovation project includes updating a 200 square foot kitchen with 30 linear feet of wood cabinets and countertops. Work includes replacing cabinet doors and hardware, drawers, double sink, oven, cooktop, ventilation, garbage disposer, dishwasher, built in microwave, lighting and flooring. Plus adding a 3×5 island.

This kitchen upgrade project includes updating a 200 square foot kitchen with 30 linear feet of cabinets and countertops. Work includes replacing cabinet doors and hardware, drawers, oven and cook top, countertops, sink, flooring, and paint.
Home Office Remodel

The home office project includes converting a 12×12 foot room to an office including a desktop, computer workstation, storage cabinets, wiring room for office use with cable, phone and internet connectivity, painting and carpet.
Two Story Addition
% of Cost Recouped: 69.1%
This home renovation project includes adding a 24×16 addition including a first floor family room with a full 5×8 bath, and second floor bedroom. Addition includes adding windows, flooring, insulation, lighting, paint and connection to electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Bathroom also includes a one piece tub/shower unit, toilet, and vanity
Sun Room Addition
% of Cost Recouped: 49.8%
The Sun Room project includes adding a 200 square foot sunroom, matching exterior, windows, tile floor, and skylights.
